Halloween Tricks and Treats

Halloween isn't for everyone, but some of the great stamps, designer series papers, and dies can get the creative juices flowing. Even if you don't want to make cards to send out, you could make treat holders to share with co-workers, friends, kiddos on Halloween, and so on. I was very inspired by many of the projects I saw on Pinterest and YouTube.

The host for my in-person stamp class wanted to make something with the Tricks and Treats bundle from the September-December 2023 mini catalog. We paired this with the Stargazing designer series paper in the 2023-2024 annual catalog to create some cute treat bags.

You will need two (2) pieces of designer series paper cut at 5 1/4" by 4 3/4", and if you are using a directional pattern, make sure that it is 5 1/4" top to bottom. Tips for die cutting, stamping, and putting this together are in the video.

The same designer series paper was used to make a spooky card. Too bad the glow in the dark elements are no longer available because many in my in-person class wanted them. I hadn't realized they would retire so quickly, or I would have purchased more. For my video I used some retired dies to make bats from the glow in the dark paper (available in the September-December 2023 mini catalog)--better get more of that before it is gone! I used retired Scary Silhouettes dies and Frightful Tags dies, as well as the Aspen dies from the 2023-2024 annual catalog.

  • 5 ½” X 8 ½” Blackberry Bliss Cardstock; score in landscape at 4 ¼”
  • 5 ¼” X 4” Basic Black Cardstock; die cut Aspen trees in the center; add dimensionals to the back, except where the moon will go
  • 5 1/8” X 3 ¾” Stargazing DSP (night sky)
  • 5 ¼” X 4” Basic White Cardstock (inside)
  • Basic Black Cardstock die cuts: house from Scary Silohuettes and grass (X 2) from Horizon dies
  • Glow in the Dark paper: 1 ¾” circle punch/die, cut a piece for behind the windows & other shapes as desired
  • Directions may be found in the video.

The last card was CASED from Jackie Bolhuis, but I cleared some of my paper, ribbon, ink, and embellishments retired cache to use for them. Some of you may remember Tangerine Tango and Soft Sky. I was also able to share the baby wipe technique, and everyone loved it.

  • Base Cardstock: 5 ½” X 7 ¼”; score in landscape at 3”
  • Flap Cardstock: 4 ¼” X 4 ¼”; score at 1”; glue the folded tab to the inside of the card about in the middle and lined up along the left side.
  • DSP right side: 5 ¼” X 2 ¾”
  • DSP flap: 4” X 3”
  • 4th smallest deckled circle Very Vanilla/Basic White Cardstock; use baby wipe technique to stamp a leaf on the circle; stamp sentiment over the image.
  • Inside Cardstock: 5” X 3 ¾” Very Vanilla/Basic White Cardstock; stamp image(s) and sentiment.
  • Instructions and technique are shared in the video.
