Snowflake Splendor

Snowflakes and Ornaments

Getting ready for the cooler weather of winter is so much fun with the Snowflake Wishes stamps and So Many Snowflakes die bundle of products from Stampin' Up! Mixing these with some of the other Snowflake Splendor products and some fun techniques that I learned from other crafty people was "snow" much fun! It was hard to pick which three things I wanted to share with my stamping group.

See-Through Glimmer Snowflake Inset

The Balmy Blue glimmer paper is beautiful showing through the snowflake cutout using the So Many Snowflakes dies and the cute center with other accents using the Blue Adhesive Backed Gems.

  • 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Night of Navy cardstock; score in landscape at 4 1/4"
  • 3 1/2" x 4" Balmy Blue glimmer paper
  • 1 3/4" x 4" Designer Series Paper (DSP)
  • 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" Whisper White cardstock
  • 1 1/2" x 4 1/4" Balmy Blue cardstock
  • 5 1/4" x 4" Whisper White cardstock (inside)
  • Snowflakes cut from Night of Navy and Balmy Blue cardstocks
  • Blue Adhesive Backed Gems
See how I put this together in the video.

Snowflake Arrow Cards

One of the new techniques that I saw online and wanted to learn so that I could share it with my group is the Arrow Card. These create a visually dynamic depth without a lot of extra product.

Inspired by Sam Calcot from UK, which was a larger card, I wanted one to fit in a standard envelope, so I tweaked the measurements to create this one that is in portrait.
  • 4 1/4" x 11" color cardstock; score in landscape at 5 1/2"; lightly mark across the bottom the card front at 2 1/8", and also up from the bottom of the card front on each side at 1 3/4" and 3 1/2"; score from where the 5 1/2" center score line meets the outside edge on both sides to the center mark at the bottom of the front, and repeat this from each mark along both sides to the center mark at the bottom. Erase the marks.
  • 3 3/4" x 5 1/8" DSP, lightly mark at 1 7/8" along one short end (portrait), and then cut from the opposite outside corners to the mark at the bottom center to create 3 triangles.
  • 4" X 5 1/4" Whisper White cardstock to go inside the card under the 2 right triangles on the sides.
  • Various Snowflakes cut from coordinating cardstocks and glimmer paper.
  • Blue Adhesive Backed Gems/Rhinestones
Watch the video for assembly instructions.

I also found some measurements from Diane Evans (US Demonstrator) for the horizontal version of the Arrow Card.
  • 5 1/2" X 8 1/2" color cardstock; score in landscape at 4 1/4". Along the bottom of the card front lightly mark at 2 3/4" and on each of the outer sides from the center score line at 2 1/8". Score from the outside edges of the center score line diagonally to the mark at the center of the bottom of the card front and repeat from each of the side marks to the center bottom mark. Erase the marks.
  • 5" X 4" DSP; in landscape lightly mark the bottom at 2 1/2", cut from the outside corners opposite the mark diagonally to the bottom center mark.
  • 5 1/8" X 4 1/8" Whisper White/Very Vanilla cardstock; this goes inside the card under the right triangles.
This arrow card will only fold twice and have the last fold be out, so you will only add glue dots to the one fold to hold it together.

Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper Loop Ornaments

During the holidays I love giving ornaments that can be used every year to remind the person of me, and when Dawn Griffith shared these ornaments they were too adorable to pass by.

(Cased from Dawn Griffith)
  • 5" X 11" Designer Series Paper (DSP); score in landscape at 3" & 6 1/2"; and then turn to portrait and cut 1/2" strips (will need 10)
  • 1" circles (X 2) punched/die cut from Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper
  • 9" ribbon
Take a look at the video to see how to put this together.

Those attending my in person class received a gift bag to put all of their projects in to take home along with a small votive candle with some of the stamped images on it. I saw this gift bag done by Jenny Moors in UK that was so very simple and would hold all of their items to take home.

  • 12" X 12" DSP, score at 5" & 7", turn clockwise to the next side and score at 3" X 9".
  • 6" X 2 1/2" Coordinating cardstock (X 2), score in portrait at 1 1/4"
  • 12" Ribbon (X 2)
Watch the video to see how to put it together.

This time of year is so much fun making things to share with family and friends, so I thought that I would share pictures of other items I've made either based upon the above techniques or from watching other demonstrators and creative crafters. Some I made with the Snowflake Wishes bundle and some were with the In the Pines bundle.

I hope that you have enjoyed what I share because I really love making things to brighten people's day. This is also my favorite creative outlet and things may be completed relatively quickly.
