Cheerful Daisies

The meaning of a daisy flower can be purity, innocence, new beginnings, joy and cheerfulness. Who doesn't experience some sort of lightness when looking at daisies--the more the merrier? When I saw the Cheerful Daisies bundle in the Stampin' Up! 2023-2024 annual catalog I knew I wanted it to make some cards to spread some cheer.

The August stamp class allowed people to choose the number of cards they wanted to make from four different designs. Several wanted to make all four, and others only wanted two of them.

Card #1 was CASEd from Heather Heroldt. This is a Stamps, Ink, Paper (SIP) card that creates fast, simple cards. My examples used Mango Melody (retired) and Pear Pizzazz (retired) as well as Daffodil Delight and Old Olive.

Dimensions for products used:
  • 5 ½” X 8 ½” Thick BasicWhite; score at 4 ¼”
  • 5” X 3 ¾” Pear Pizzazz/Old Olive cardstock
  • 4 ¾” X 3 ½” Basic White cardstock; stamp daisies in Mango Melody or Daffodil Delight ink & centers in Pebbled Path ink; stamp leaves in Pear Pizzazz/Old Olive.
  • Pear Pizzazz/Old Olive stitched label (Cheerful Daisy Dies); stamp sentiment in versa mark, sprinkle with white embossing powder, and heat set
  • Pear Pizzazz/Old Olive ribbon
  • Colored Dots or Gems

Card #2 was inspired by Josee Smuck shared by Linda Schnabel. This card primarily uses the dies from the bundle for a 3D effect.

Dimensions for products used:
  • 5 ½” X 8 ½” Wild Wheat cardstock; score at 4 ¼”
  • 5 ¼” X 4” Basic White cardstock; emboss with Timeworn Type embossing folder for the front
  • 5 ¼” X 4” Basic White cardstock for the inside
  • 4 ¼” X 3” Wild Wheat cardstock
  • 4” X 2 ¾” Wild Wheat Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Fresh as a Daisy; if desired, stamp flowers over the DSP
  • White twine (wrap 3 times around the embossed white layer and adhere ends to the back. Tie a knot or bow around the 3 strands toward the left side on the front)
  • Basic White cardstock—Cut 2 triple flower dies, color centers with dauber (Daffodil Delight ink) or with Dark Daffodil Delight blends, cut off leaves, take 1 triple flower apart, adhere individual flowers on top of each of the other triple flowers using dimensionals; then adhere the flowers to the DSP layer with dimensionals
  • Basic White cardstock label—Stamp sentiment in Wild Wheat/Daffodil Delight, adhere with glue dots or dimensionals

Card #3 was CASEd from Elaine Schader. This is an easel card, so the person you give it to can stand it up to view. You can use many different color combinations with this bundle. My example used a smaller rectangle that I thought would look better to be bigger for the actual cards we made in the class.

Dimensions for the products used:
  • 4 ¼” X 11” Boho Blue CS; score at 2-3/4″ and 5-1/2″
  • 4” X 2 ½” (x 2) Blue Designer Series Paper (DSP) from Fresh as a Daisy; stamp with the bunch of flowers stamp in Boho Blue making sure to stamp off first to get a lighter color.
  • 4” X 5 ¼” Fresh as a Daisy white daisy DSP inside
  • Basic White cardstock stitched banner label (Stylish Shapes Dies), stamp sentiment in Boho Blue ink and add label with dimensionals to the inside of the card toward the top third to create the stop for the front easel part of the card.
  • Stamp a sentiment on a 3rd largest Deckled Rectangle die cut from Basic White cardstock; add to the front of the card with dimensionals on the bottom half only.
  • Stamp daisies onto Basic White cardstock (outline Boho Blue full strength & background stamp off for lighter shade), and then cut out each of the flowers, stem (stamped in Garden Green), and 3 leaves (stamped in Garden Green) for the card.
  • Add flowers to the Deckled Rectangle.
  • Stick on Boho Blue dots, add a linen thread bow if desired.
  • Check out the video for a demonstration for this card.
Card #4 was CASEd from Narelle Farrugia. Her site didn't list any dimensions, so I created some of my own.
