The Gift for Gift Giving

Sometimes we want to create things to give as a gift, so that people can use them to give to others. I've done this for some families that experienced the unexpected loss of a family member by making them some thank you cards that they could send out for kindnesses shown to them. You could also create a perennial event book and a set of cards that they could send out throughout the year. My stamp class in December will focus on making a gift box with a set of tags in them that could be used to adorn gifts that person will give during the holidays. Stampin' Up! has some great products to use to create these. I will offer two different boxed sets.

Mini Paper Pumpkin Gift Box of Tags

The first is using the mini Paper Pumpkin box and Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper to create a divided liner and to decorate the box. This was stamped with Merry Little Labels (retired set), punched with the Everyday Label and die cut with the Stitched So Sweetly and Stitched Nested Labels dies. I saw a few of divided boxes like this on the internet and decided to try making one on my own. I found the Doll Pin and "Christmasy" ribbon at a craft and hobby store.

Liner: 5 1/2" X 10 3/4" designer series paper (DSP)--score in portrait (5 1/2" side) at 7/8" on each side, then score in landscape (10 3/4" side) at 7/8", 3 1/8", 4", 4 7/8", 5 7/8", 6 3/4", 7 5/8" and 9 7/8".
Cut off tabs (dark areas) and fold as shown--V is valley fold and M is mountain fold.

Outside of the box:
3/4" X 5 3/8" (X2) DSP
3/4" X 3 1/2" (X2) DSP
3 1/2" X 5 3/8" DSP
1" X 5 1/2" DSP (punch ends with Banner Triple punch)
Label--stamp and die cut or punch from scrap Whisper White

8 Tags:
--Coordinating cardstock cut with 3rd largest Stitched Nested Label dies, a hole punched in one end, and stamped with the Birch background stamp.
--Whisper White cardstock stamped with tag or sentiment in coordinating ink colors and punched or die cut.
--Ribbon twisted and glued between the label pieces, which have dimensionals between them.

Place the insert inside the box, make adjustments as needed, and then glue in place. Put everything inside the box and give away! You may wish to view the video of this project.

Mini Pizza Box Gift Box of Tags

The second boxed set is made with the Gold Mini Pizza Boxes and Tis the Season Designer Series Paper stack (the one pictured above uses a paper from last year, "Wrapped in Plaid") to create the divided liner and to decorate the box. The stamp behind the tree punch is from Rustic Retreat, and the tags were stamped using Perfectly Plaid. I'm also including some of the jingle bells that are in the year end closeout. The wooden mini spool is from a craft and hobby store.

Liner: 6" X 4 3/4" DSP--score in portrait (4 3/4" side) at 3/4" on each side; score in landscape (6" side) at 3/4", 3", 3 1/2", 4" and 5 1/4". Cut off tabs (dark areas) and fold as shown.

Outside of box:
--3 3/8" X 1" DSP
--2 1/4" circle punched from Whisper White; stamp with trees from Rustic Retreat.
--Pine Tree punched from DSP, use dimensionals to adhere to the top of the circle.

10 tags:
2" X 3 1/2" Whisper White, punch top with tag topper of your choice and stamp with images and sentiments as desired.

Place the liner inside the box, make adjustments as desired, and glue inside (Note: don't add glue to the portion where the center of the box folds). Put everything inside and find a friend to gift it to. A video is available for this project.
