Father's Day

I have experienced many types of fathers during my life, but there was only one that was really my dad, and it's hard to believe that he's been gone for over 22 years. I am grateful to have had him in my life for 16 years, especially during those teenage and early adult years. He taught me many great life lessons that I will never forget.

As a tribute to fathers, and men in general, I decided to make some manly cards for my June stamp class. I was inspired by the many wonderful projects I saw on Pinterest and the internet. I am in awe of those who are able to come up with great designs.

My first card is using the Geared Up Garage stamp set and Brick & Mortar embossing folder.

CARD #1
You will need:
Basic Black cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 11" and scored in landscape at 5 1/2".
Basic Gray cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 3 1/2".
2 pieces of Real Red cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 1 1/2".
The largest stitched rectangle die cut (about 5 1/8" x 3 3/4") from Real Red cardstock for the inside).
The 2nd largest stitched rectangle die cut (about 4 3/4" x 3 3/8") from Basic Gray cardstock (for the inside).
A piece of scrap (about 2 3/4" square) Basic Black cardstock to stamp and cut the Father's Day emblem from the stamp set.

You will emboss the card front with the Brick & Mortar folder. Then on the Basic Gray piece tear, pulling toward the front, along the long edges, top and bottom, at an angle. Tap some Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the front of the embossing folder (this will have the larger indentations for the bricks on it), and emboss the smaller Basic Gray piece. This will add ink into the mortar areas on this piece. Make sure to rinse the ink off of the folder. Using a sponge rub black ink around places on the gray piece, especially the edges, to make it a little grungy.

Tear along one long edge on each of the small red pieces, similar to the gray piece, as these will go behind the top and bottom of it. Rub the edges with the black ink. Rub the edges of the stitched rectangles also with the black ink.

Stamp the Father's Day emblem with Versa Mark ink on the scrap piece of black cardstock, sprinkle with silver embossing powder, and heat set. Cut out with the Garage Gears die. Use a sanding block or other rough surface to roughen up the embossing and edges a little.

Glue the small red pieces behind the gray embossed piece, top and bottom. Adhere this to the card front, and add the emblem with dimensionals. Add the stitched rectangle pieces to the inside. Check out my video.

Card #2
This next card could be used for a variety of occasions for those that like the outdoors. Inspired by a card from Kylie Bertucci, it features the Pedal to the Metal stamp set and a Sale-a-bration folder that I earned. I'm sure you could use the Hammered Metal folder as well.

The papers needed include:
Basic Black cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 11" and scored in landscape at 5 1/2".
Two pieces of Whisper White cardstock cut at 4" x 5 1/4".
Whisper White cardstock cut with the 2 1/2" x 4" Stitched Rectangle die.

Emboss one of the large white pieces with the folder and rub over the top using a sponge and Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Stamp the image in black ink on the stitched rectangle and color as desired. I also stamped the image on the other large white piece for the inside in Gray Granite ink off to the left lower corner and my sentiments in black. The track I stamped behind the sentiments in Gray Granite.

Adhere the stitched rectangle to the embossed piece and then glue to the card front. Stick the other white piece inside the card, and quick and simple you are done! Watch the video here.

Card #3
I saw this card on Pinterest and tracked it to a website for Create with Connie & Mary. It was so simple and easy that I knew my group would enjoy making it.

I used:
Crumb Cake cardstock cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored in landscape at 4 1/4".
Whisper White cardstock pieces cut at 4" x 5 1/4" (inside), 3 3/4" x 5", and 3" x 4 3/4".
Flags punched, die cut, or just cut with scissors at 5/8" wide (about 1/2"-3/4" long pieces) from Pretty Peacock (3), Crumb Cake (2), and Calypso Coral (3).

Stamp the image from A Good Man stamp set and sentiments in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the smallest white piece and sentiment on the largest (to go inside the card), and color as desired (I used ink to match the flags).

Adhere the flags behind the left long edge of the stamped white piece, varying the lengths and slightly overlapping as desired. Then glue this piece onto the middle sized white piece, and then to the card front. Stick the largest stamped piece inside the card. What a simple card for the men in your life! Here's a video to show the process.

Thanks to all those who inspire me so that I can share what I love to do with others, and a special thanks to my readers.
