The Merriest Christmas that I Pretty Much Missed

My in-person stamp class featured a set of tags using the Merriest Trees Bundle and a gift card holding card fun fold where I used a retired stamp set with some designer series paper from the September-December 2023 mini catalog. I haven't uploaded videos or any blog post for it because the next weekend I was taken to the hospital with some serious health issues. I don't have many "awake" memories from December 9th through about December 20th.

I've been home since December 24th, with the exception of an overnight stay back in the hospital on December 29th. Working to regain my strength in order to return to my full-time job as an Administrative Assistant has proven very difficult. Due to everything, I have to put off in-person classes for the time being. I did want to finish the December 2023 blog post sharing the projects from the class.

This fun fold gift card holder design was inspired by Lisa Cursio, but after making it, I decided to remove one of the folds and just make it with one fold instead of two. I used designer series paper from the September through December 2024 mini catalog with a retired stamp set that I had. This idea could be used with any paper and stamps to use for any event or occasion.

  • 4 1/2" X 5 1/2" Night of Navy cardstock
  • 4” X 5 ¼” Designer Series Paper (DSP)
  • 3 ½” X 4 ½” Balmy Blue cardstock
  • 4 ¼” X 6 ½” Misty Moonlight cardstock; score in landscape at 3 ¼”
  • 3” X 4” (X 2) Basic White cardstock
  • 2 ¼” X 4 ¼” DSP (pocket)
  • Circle punched from Night of Navy cardstock
  • Circle punched from White cardstock

  1. If you desire, you can emboss the Balmy Blue cardstock with an embossing folder.
  2. Glue the large DSP to the Night of Navy piece, and then adhere the Balmy Blue and folded Misty Moonlight.
  3. Stamp sentiment on the white circle, and then glue the two circles together.
  4. On one of the white cardstock pieces stamp and color the polar bear of your choice and other images as desired. This will be adhered to the front of the Misty Moonlight front.
  5. On the other white cardstock piece stamp snowflakes and sentiment, and then glue this to the top inside of the Misty Moonlight piece.
  6. Add tear n tape on the 2 sides and bottom of the pocket, and then punch a half circle in the middle of the top for a finger hold. Stick this to the bottom of the inside of the Misty Moonlight piece.

The main project was a packet of 12 tags using the Merriest Trees bundle and the Tartan Foil papers from the Online Exclusives section. I saw photos of these tags online, but I couldn't find any website to determine who the designer was.

  • 3 ¾” X 2 ½” Basic White cardstock (X 12); die cut with large tag die

  • 3 ¾” X 2 ½” Light Tartan Plaid DSP (3 Pebbled Path, 3 Copper Clay, 6 Lost Lagoon); die cut with large tag die
  • 2 5/8” X 2 3/8” Basic White cardstock (X 12); ink the tree image (3 Copper Clay, 3 Pebbled Path, 6 Lost Lagoon), NOTE dab the inked stamp with a tissue, stamp the image, and then cut out with matching tree die
  • ½” X 1 3/8” colored cardstock (3 Pebbled Path, 3 Copper Clay, 6 Lost Lagoon); stamp sentiment in Versa Mark, emboss with white powder and heat set; cut between “to you” and “and yours” and above and below, if desired
  • 5/8” X 1 3/8” colored cardstock (3 Pebbled Path, 3 Copper Clay, 6 Lost Lagoon); die cut with hole reinforcement die
  • 1” X 2 ½” dark plaid DSP (2 Pebbled Path, 2 Copper Clay, 3 Lost Lagoon); dark side up on a trimmer in portrait, lineup the top right corner and the bottom left corner and cut diagonally—this is important

  1. Stamp stars in color to match the tree colors on the white tag (3 Copper Clay, 3 Pebbled Path, and 6 Lost Lagoon). Adhere the dark plaid triangle with wide end toward the left and bottom of the white tag to match the stars and tree for the tag.
  2. Stamp the stars in Versa Mark ink over the stamped trees, sprinkle with white embossing powder, and heat set.
  3. Glue the corresponding hole reinforcement to match the tree over the hole at the top of the white tag.
  4. Assemble the tag: Example – Light Plaid tag matching the tree behind the white stamped tag(matching the tree), pop up the tree on dimensionals toward the right side; use a glue dot to add star to the top of the tree, pop up to the side of the tree the 2 sentiments matching the dark plaid triangle at the bottom of the white tag. Thread corresponding pieces of ribbon through the hole and tie a twine/thin ribbon around the ribbons above the tag. More particularly described below:

3 Copper Clay trees, light plaid tags, stamped stars on white tag, hole reinforcement, Lost Lagoon dark plaid triangle and stamped sentiment strips, gold or silver star and corresponding ribbons.

3 Pebbled Path trees, light plaid tags, stamped stars on white tag, hole reinforcement, Lost Lagoon dark plaid triangle and stamped sentiment strips, gold or silver star and corresponding ribbons.

3 Lost Lagoon trees, light plaid tags, stamped stars on white tag, hole reinforcement, Copper Clay dark plaid triangle and stamped sentiment strips, gold or silver star and corresponding ribbons.
