Dinosaur Retired Replay

The Host for my local in person class wanted to make some kid cards with dinosaurs because her grandson loves them. The only dinosaurs I had in my stash is a retired stamp set, No Bones About It. I was able to find some ideas on Pinterest from 2015 using this set. You could use these techniques with other stamp sets that you have.

The first card is using a window sheet to create a see-through effect. In this case to have the skeleton on the window with the body seen from inside. This could work with two step flowers or a scene on the inside with an additional part on the window sheet. You can use any accent color with the black background. The technique can be used for a variety of stamp sets and scenes. I CASEd this from Dawn Griffith, who gave credit to Davette Miller.

  • 4 ¼” X 11” Basic Black cardstock; score in landscape at 5 ½”
  • 4” X 5 ¼” Basic White cardstock
  • 4” X 1 ¼” Color cardstock (X 2)
  • 4” X 3 ¾” Window Sheet
  • 2 ½” X 1” Basic Black cardstock (from piece that is cut off in the first step)
  • 2 ¼” X ¾” Basic White cardstock
  • Twine or ribbon to coordinate with the color cardstock

Watch my video to see how to make this card and learn some helpful hints and tips. Another card that I made using this same fun fold technique is below using another retired stamp set Inspiring Iris.

The other technique we used on another card is stamping an image into embossing paste. This gave the affect of looking like an archaeological dig. I saw the idea on Pinterest and found a photo by Jamilla Ivits, but I couldn't find a website with dimenstions, so I made up my own. I've seen some people use a small image and create a "seal" on a card. You could use embossing paste with stencils, die cuts, and embossing folders.

  • 5 ½” X 8 ½” Very Vanilla thick cardstock; score in landscape at 4 ¼”
  • 5” X 3 ¾” Crumb Cake cardstock
  • 5 ½” X 1 ½” (retired) Mosaic Mood DSP
  • 2 ½” X 1” (retired) Wood Textures DSP
  • Scrap of Mint Macaron cardstock
You could use any designer series paper (DSP) and coordinating colors. To see how to make this card watch the video. I also made another card using a different stamp set, which is also retired (Inspiring Iris), to show how the technique may be used.
